Continuing education options available

ELLSWORTH — Free classes and tutoring are available to help adults in Ellsworth earn their high school diploma and continue their education. Services have been up and running for years, but now HiSET (High School Equivalency Testing) tutoring and testing are even easier than ever to access.

Classes, tutoring and testing are at the Mill Mall and daytime and evening hours are offered. Services are through Ellsworth Adult & Community Education and other adult education programs around the region. Young adults as well as adults who are “young at heart” can come back and finish their high school studies. They can also receive job and career advising and training and college preparation services.

In-person classes offer flexibility for those with work and home responsibilities. Computer learning options are also available, both in the classroom and from home.

Last year, 29 adult learners earned their high school diploma through Ellsworth Adult & Community Education and most have moved on to the next chapter in their lives with a new job, further education, certificate programs or college.

This year is a great time to earn your diploma if you are thinking about going to college because the Maine Community College System is offering free tuition to students graduating in 2021, 2022 and 2023 and adult education graduates are eligible.

For more information, call Ellsworth Adult & Community Education to schedule a free and confidential appointment to learn about the options available to you. There is no pressure to enroll in the first meeting. It is a time to explore the possibilities. The goal of this Ellsworth School District program is to assist adults in reaching their potential in life.
