Concert, Auction Raise $58K for Emmaus Shelter

ELLSWORTH — The Emmaus Homeless Shelter’s 6th Annual Spring Fest Concert and Auction, which was held at the Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School May 1, raised $58,550.

One hundred forty individuals and businesses contributed auction items and several churches and individuals sold over 200 tickets.

The school cafeteria was transformed into a festive, colorful environment due to the table furnishings donated by Brian Spencer of Wallace Tent & Party Rentals. The audio equipment set up by Chris Jovanelli of Mainely Music accentuated the sounds of the Joyful Jazz and the Big Moose bands. Photographer Kim Wade compiled a CD of the event.

The food was mostly organic and was provided by local friends and supporters.

The appetizers and buffet were prepared under the direction of Hadley Friedman of the Simmering Pot of Blue Hill and the Common Good Kitchen in Southwest Harbor.
