Commissioners approve Sheriff’s Office promotions

ELLSWORTH — Hancock County Sheriff Scott Kane promoted two deputies after getting a nod from the Hancock County Commissioners Tuesday.

Kane promoted Deputy Corey Bagley to the position of lieutenant.

“He does an outstanding job and I think it’s an appropriate promotion,” Kane said.

Deputy Franklin Jennings was promoted to the rank of detective.

Bagley will replace former Lt. Chris Thornton, who is now a supervisor for the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Bagley has been an officer with the Sheriff’s Department since 1992.

Also, Kane promoted Deputy Franklin Jennings to detective.

Jennings replaces former Detective Ben Astbury, who resigned several weeks ago.

Jennings joined the department in June 2016.

Both promotions are effective immediately.

Both officers’ wives, Stacey Bagley and Shannon Jennings, attended the meeting to pin new badges on their husbands.
