ELLSWORTH — Firefighters responded to a chimney fire at a residence off Christian Ridge Road Tuesday morning.

Fire Chief Richard Tupper said the owner of the log cabin-style home, located on Higgins Way, did the right thing and called the Fire Department when she suspected something was wrong with her chimney.

A half-dozen firefighters responded, Tupper said, with one team in the house and one team on the roof working to clean the chimney and remove creosote and ashes from the home.

There was no damage to the home as a result of the chimney fire, Tupper said, and no one was injured.
