Children found wandering on Ellsworth Road

BLUE HILL — A concerned citizen found two children, a 3-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy, walking alone on the Ellsworth Road in Blue Hill Monday and notified the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.

Lt. Corey Bagley said the caller kept the children at the Blue Hill Salt Sand Shed until deputies arrived.

“Several deputies responded to the area, and after talking with the kids and searching the Sheriff’s Office in-house database we were able to determine where the kids came from,” Bagley said. “Deputies went to the residence and eventually were able to speak with the father of the two kids, who had no idea that the two kids were not in the apartment.”

After the investigation, police arrested Kanyon Grover, 25, on two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Grover has since been released on bail.

The Maine Department of Health and Human Services helped with the children.

“The case is still under investigation,” said Bagley.
