Calypso Beat

Take time on Saturday and let Flash in the Pans conjure up Caribbean images of palm trees, sand beaches and snorkeling at the “Cabin Fever Reliever,” 2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at the Holiday Inn in Ellsworth. Flash!, a longtime steel drum band numbering 30 steel-pan players from the Blue Hill Peninsula, is performing to raise funds for the Down East AIDS Network. The admission price of $5 per adult and $3 per child (under 12) includes all-you-can-eat Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Ice Cream. The Down East AIDS Network, a grassroots, community organization serving Hancock and Washington counties, supports people affected by HIV and strives to inform the public about the virus.
