Schoodic Institute has announced that Jordan Crosby of Franklin has been hired as the director of food services, replacing Sallie Deitz. Crosby is a Sumner Memorial High School graduate and a graduate of Johnson and Wales in Providence, R.I.

“Jordan has a lot of experience in food services and his connections in this area are excellent; we are thrilled to have him leading the food services team” said Megan Moshier, director of sales and operations at Schoodic Institute.

Crosby was employed as kitchen manager at Mountain View School in Sullivan, cooked at Ironbound in Sullivan and Martha’s Diner in Ellsworth and co-owned and operated Downeast Cheesecakes. Most recently he was bistro manager at the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel in Bar Harbor.

“I am eager to bring the food services at Schoodic Institute to a new level and look forward to working with local suppliers to incorporate locally sourced ingredients into the meals we serve,” Crosby said.

Schoodic Institute is a nonprofit partner with Acadia National Park. The research learning center is open all year and welcomes groups of all sizes from around the country offering food, lodging, meeting, lab and classroom space as well as programming.
