Sports bar to replace Fuddruckers

ELLSWORTH — An Eddington couple plan to open a pub in the former Fuddruckers space at Tradewinds Market at the beginning of February.

Jenn Barker said she and her husband, Dan, have been working to renovate the space over the past few months and hope to be open by Feb. 4.

“It’s kind of been a lifelong dream of mine and my husband joined that dream,” said Jenn. “It’s just so great that we can finally do this together.”

There will be seating for 68 in the new space, which the couple have named Sidelines (with input from their children). The two have added a bar and put up some pub tables, Jenn said.

“We’ll probably have some karaoke and we’re hoping maybe to get bands in the future.”

The menu will be “small, pub-type,” she continued, with 16 beers on draft, including some craft and local. There will also be a full bar and 11 TVs.

“It’s really big, it’s nice and open,” Jenn said. “It’s really welcoming when I walk in there.”

The walls will be decorated with sports paraphernalia, she said, adding that the couple hope to include items from local high school sports teams as well.

“We want to really be part of the community.”

Fuddruckers, a Texas burger chain, closed abruptly this summer after three years in the space, with management citing “seasonal business, rising labor costs and overall costs of doing business” in a Facebook post in June.
