BAR HARBOR — At least three new coffee shops are offering a bevy of high-test concoctions this summer.

On Firefly Lane, Mount Desert Island Ice Cream shop owner Linda Parker has taken over an adjacent space and opened Matsumoto Joe Café. The micro space offers unique décor, desserts and sweet and savory snacks.

The Independent, the coffee shop that formerly occupied the space, has reopened on Main Street in the building that formerly housed Walking the Dog, which closed last year. Independent owner Tim Rich ran a successful Kickstarter online campaign this spring to fund renovations.

Also on Main Street, Jennifer Litteral of Bar Harbor has joined with Chris Keegan to open the Coffee Hound Coffee Bar at 27 Main Street, across from Agamont Park. Beyond the usual caffeinated fare, the pair offer lobster rolls, hotdogs and refreshing cold beverages.
