ELLSWORTH — Attention, outdoor enthusiasts: the L.L.Bean Outlet Store on High Street is expanding.

And so is its work force.

The store, which opened in May of 1990, is expanding into the empty space next to Rent-A-Center in the shopping plaza at 150 High St.

L.L.Bean spokesman Mac McKeever said the size of the store will increase by 33 percent, from 12,000 to 16,000 square feet.

Work on the project (which includes renovation of existing space) began late last month and is expected to be finished by early to mid-May.

The Ellsworth store currently employees more than 20 people, and McKeever said the company expects to add 10 more jobs as a result of the expansion.

Those jobs are a mix of full- and part-time positions.
