BUCKSPORT — The Town Council agreed last month to provide up to $25,000 in additional funding and staffing to the Bucksport Bay Healthy Communities Coalition for one additional year.
The council reviewed its decision during the May 30 meeting.
“There was some confusion about the town providing staff to the coalition following last meeting, so now would be the time to revisit what we did on May 16,” Town Manager Michael Brennan said. “We are going to continue to provide them with our health planning officer. This is a temporary arrangement which will end next year.”
The council decided to further assist the coalition after the agency began experiencing difficulty in funding its operation. The coalition would be required to pay back the additional funding this year if it is successful in securing grants.
