Bucksport Council approves $11.5M budget; taxes to increase

BUCKSPORT — Bucksport property owners will pay more taxes next year as the Town Council adopted the $11,545,047 town budget for 2013-14.

The municipal and school portions of the budget both increased. The town’s portion of the Regional School Unit 25 (RSU 25) budget approved on June 11 rose 3.53 percent to $5,961,105.

On July 11, the council voted 6-1 to enact the $5,583,942 municipal budget, which is a 6.02 percent increase.

Bucksport’s combined municipal and school budget reflects a 4.72 percent increase for next year.

The tax rate was set at 13.56 mills, .62 mills higher than this year’s budget.
