Bucksport baby taken to hospital

BUCKSPORT — The Bucksport Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred Nov. 29 and resulted in the hospitalization of a local baby.

Deputy Police Chief David Winchester said the child is under 1 year of age.

Police took a call at 3:50 p.m. on Nov. 29 about a woman assaulting an infant at a residence on Broadway.

“Public Safety Director Sean Geagan, Officer Gerald Lowe, Sgt. Darrin Moody and Officer Eric Marcel responded to a Broadway address, where they located the parents of the small child,” said Winchester. “The infant was located at a neighbor’s residence and was taken to a local hospital by the Bucksport Ambulance to be treated for undisclosed injuries.”

“The mother was taken into protective custody and transported to the hospital,” Winchester said.

The Hancock County District Attorney’s Office is also involved in the investigation.
