Brooklin man dies after jumping from Penobscot Narrows Bridge

VERONA ISLAND — A Brooklin man, 79, died Friday morning after he jumped off the Penobscot Narrows Bridge on Verona Island, Maine State Police Lt. Rod Charette reported.

The man died of the injuries sustained from the fall, Charette said.

“His body was recovered from the Penobscot River.”

The Maine State Police is the lead investigating agency. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, Maine Marine Patrol, Bucksport Police Department and Bucksport Fire Department assisted with the recovery efforts.
