Woman injured in accidental shooting

ELLSWORTH—A 49-year-old resident whose name was not released was taken to Maine Coast Memorial hospital on July 11 after she accidentally shot herself, according to Police Chief Glenn Moshier. Moshier said the woman was attempting to holster a 9mm handgun, which she thought was empty, when it went off and a bullet struck her in the foot.

Two other individuals were with the woman at a residence on the Gary Moore Road when the accident occurred. The gun is registered to the woman, said Moshier. County Ambulance responded to the scene. The woman’s condition was not immediately available.
