Sullivan house destroyed by fire

SULLIVAN — A fire in Sullivan resulted in the destruction of a house this past weekend.

Sullivan Fire Rescue was dispatched at 11:28 p.m. Saturday to a structure fire at 451 Punkinville Road. The two-story building was fully ablaze and had already collapsed by the time fire crews arrived.

A press release from Sullivan Fire Rescue stated that the house had been occupied when the fire began, but that all residents had made it out safely, and there were no injuries reported.

The American Red Cross was contacted to provide assistance to the homeowners.

Fire crews from Hancock, Franklin, Sorrento, and Gouldsboro also assisted in responding to the blaze.

State fire marshals have been contacted and the cause of the fire remains unknown.
