Logging truck and pickup collide head-on

ELLSWORTH — Police blocked off upper Main Street after a pickup truck collided head-on with a logging truck near the intersection with Oak Street just past noon on Monday.

Ellsworth Police Department Sgt. Shawn Willey said the pickup was turning right onto Main Street from Oak Street when it crossed the centerline and collided with the logging truck, which was headed east on Main Street.

Providers from Northern Light Medical Transport were checking the driver of the pickup, Willey said, but if the man did suffer injuries they appeared to be “minor.”

The driver of the logging truck was not injured, Willey said.

Willey said officers had not yet determined why the pickup driver crossed the centerline.
