Law Enforcement Supporters Rally Downtown

ELLSWORTH–Family and friends of law enforcement gathered at City Hall in Ellsworth Wednesday evening to “Back the Blue,” and show their support for the profession, which has recently been under fire since the death of George Floyd in Minnesota.

Ellsworth Assembly of God Lead Pastor Burt Lowry led the group of sixty in a prayer before they processed from City Hall to State Street and up Main Street.

Lowry said in his 30 years in Ellsworth there have been “zero reports of law enforcement doing anything negative” toward anyone of color.

“We’ve had a great law enforcement team,” the pastor said.

The group included friends, wives and children and grandchildren of law enforcement personnel as well as a few officers.

Many vehicles driving down Main Street honked their horns, ostensibly in support, when seeing signs stating “Back the Blue.”
