Frankfort Man Killed in Route 46 Collision

BUCKSPORT — Police report that a Frankfort man died Wednesday afternoon on Route 46 after a sport utility vehicle rolled and went into an oncoming lane, striking the pickup truck the man had been driving head-on.

Deputy Police Chief David Winchester said the deceased is Ronald Baker, 58.

Baker was northbound in a 2018 Ford pickup truck, which was struck by a southbound 2018 Cadillac SUV operated by Rosemary Corro, 62, of Dedham, Winchester said.

“Initially, it looks like she may have swerved to miss utility lines that were on or near the roadway, which caused her vehicle to roll over,” the chief said. “In the course of rolling, her vehicle struck Mr. Baker’s head on. He was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Corro was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The crash, which is being investigated by Officer Matt Schmidt and Officer Christopher McCrillis, occurred on outer Route 46, just a couple miles from the Bucksport/Dedham town line.

Fire and rescue personnel from Bucksport and Dedham assisted at the scene.

A section of Route 46 from the Mast Hill Road intersection to the town line was closed for four hours while the scene was investigated and cleaned up.
