SEDGWICK — A Deer Isle woman died after her vehicle went off the road and struck a utility pole on Snow’s Cove Road in Sedgwick Tuesday, the Maine State Police reported.
Nancy Blastow, 70, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Troop J Commander Lt. Rod Charette.
“The investigation indicates that her vehicle crossed the center line and entered the ditch, she then corrected and lost control and struck the pole,” Charette said.
The crash was reported at 10:50 a.m.
The Sedgwick Fire Department and Peninsula Ambulance assisted.
The roadway remained closed shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday while crews worked to replace downed wires and the broken pole.
The accident caused approximately 4,000 customers from Blue Hill to Stonington to lose power, according to Emera Maine.
