Crash slows traffic on the Bucksport Road

ELLSWORTH — A Bar Harbor woman reported possible injuries after the vehicle she was in struck a car that crossed the centerline in front of her on the Bucksport Road on Tuesday afternoon around 1:30 p.m.

A car driven by 18-year-old Thorndike resident Colby Furrow was northbound on the Bucksport Road when it attempted to stop for a vehicle making a right hand turn onto Hagen’s Elbow. Furrow “was unable to stop and lost control of the vehicle, spinning around,” wrote officers.

The car driven by Furrow crossed the centerline and was struck in the back by the SUV driven by Heather Erskine before it continued into the ditch on the southbound side of the road. Furrow was not injured in the crash.

Wet roads and speed “too fast for conditions” may have contributed, according to police. Both cars were towed from the scene.

The Ellsworth Fire and Police Departments, as well as County Ambulance responded.
