Columbia Falls man killed in single-vehicle crash

DANFORTH — A Columbia Falls man died in a single-vehicle crash on Calais Road in the town of Danforth Jan. 5, Maine State Police spokeswoman Shannon Moss reported.

Anthony Swett was 81, police said.

Troopers said Swett’s vehicle was northbound when it went off the road and struck a tree. Swett was pronounced dead at the scene. The initial investigation indicates weather and inadequate tires for the road conditions were contributing factors in the crash, authorities said.

The crash remains under investigation.
