Bucksport man charged with aggravated assault

ELLSWORTH — A Bucksport man has been arrested on two counts of aggravated assault.

Kaleem “Danny” Adnan, 29, appeared before Judge Michael Roberts Friday in Hancock County Unified Court for a bail hearing.

There is no information yet on the alleged assaults.

District Attorney Matt Foster asked Roberts to set bail at $50,000 cash. Foster asked for several bail conditions including that Adnan have no contact with children under the age of 12 and that he not leave Maine.

Foster said after the hearing “the state was seeking a $50,000 cash bail due to the heinous nature of the conduct and the age of the victim.”

Foster said Adnan has one misdemeanor conviction for disorderly conduct.

Attorney for the day Jacob Ferm asked Roberts to set bail at $10,000 cash.

“He is fine with all the conditions but doesn’t have $50,000,” Ferm said.

“Given the lack of prior history, the $10,000 cash is sufficient,” the judge said.

Roberts agreed with Foster’s bail conditions, which include no contact with four alleged victims, as well as no contact with children under age 12.

“If you see a child walking down the street, you need to move or cross the street,” Roberts said.

Bucksport Sgt. David Winchester is the investigating officer.
