Body found on Goose Cove mud flats

TRENTON — The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine Marine Patrol are investigating an unattended death that was reported Wednesday morning on the mud flats on Goose Cove on Oak Point Road in Trenton.

Maine Marine Patrol Sgt. Troy Dow said “the investigation is in its infancy,” and that it is too soon to report if the death is suspicious.

Investigators were searching a nearby vehicle on Wednesday morning.

Passers-by noticed the body mid-morning and notified authorities. The cove is slightly west of Haynes Point and the bridge to Mount Desert Island.
