Blue Hill treasurer placed on administrative leave

BLUE HILL — The treasurer for the town of Blue Hill has been placed on paid administrative leave, according to town officials.

Blue Hill Selectman Jim Schatz said the board met Thursday, Oct. 5, for an executive session to discuss a personnel matter.

After coming out of the executive session, the board voted to place Treasurer Jody Murphy on paid administrative leave, Schatz said.

Details are scant.

“It’s a personnel issue,” Schatz said. The town’s attorney is “reviewing the situation. There’s a review going on which should last less than a week. We’re hoping that once she [the attorney] does her job we’ll be able to say clearly what the situation is, if indeed it remains a concern.”

As a result of the staffing shortage, the town office will operate shorter business hours, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., until the matter is resolved, Schatz said.

“We hope things are resolved,” he said.

Murphy declined to comment.
