BLUE HILL — Brooklin gift and homewares shop Leaf & Anna has set up a full shop located at and doing business as 5 Main Street, in the former Fairwinds Florist location, for the summer.
Owner Anne Dentino had been renting a small portion of the florist shop to display her wares for the past three years.
Fairwinds relocated to 50 Main St. in the former Blue Moose location earlier this spring. The American could not reach owner Cullen Schneider before press time.
“When Cullen told me she was moving I thought, with the property up for sale, I’d approach Annette and John Candage and see if they’d be willing to rent the building to me month to month with a guarantee of us staying through September,” said Dentino. “It’s an arrangement that’s good for both of us.”
Leaf & Anna features gifts, housewares, books, greeting cards and gift wrap, specialty food, candy, children’s apparel and toys. And because it’s summer, 4-ounce ready-to-go cups of ice cream from Brooklin’s Ice Cream Lady are available. Choose from flavors like espresso, mint chip, ginger or lemon — 13 in total.
Local costume designer Hanna Shea Persson, doing business as Hanna B. Designs, has taken up one corner of the expansive space for her apparel and accessories. Hanna B.’s tagline is “making fun and funky items for everyone’s more dramatic side.”
You’ll find another corner featuring Peter Lione’s La Maison Rehash, which Lione describes as “vintage, gently used antique and new items for the home.”
Also, the Art Box, a vintage cigarette vending machine, which debuted in 2013 at Fairwinds, is still on site for purchasing tiny works of art.
