TREMONT — Scott Colby Suiter and Jennifer Lynn Child were married on Aug. 20, 2011 in Burlington, Vt. The bride’s sister-in-law, Lisette Child, was the matron of honor and the groom’s brother, Brian Suiter, was the best man.
Mr. Suiter has spent almost every summer of his life at his family’s summer home on Dix Point in West Tremont. He has raced with the Southwest Harbor Fleet, winning the Bullseye class in 1982. His first job was at the old Janet’s Restaurant in Southwest Harbor. Though he’s moved many times in his life, Mount Desert Island is the place he calls home.
The bride, who graduated from the University of Vermont and the University of Colorado at Boulder, teaches English at Mount Mansfield Union High School in Vermont. Her father, Gerald Child was sales manager for Southeast Asia at Corning Glass until his retirement. Her mother, Paula Mourhess teaches middle school in Addison, N.Y.
The groom, who attended St. Lawrence University and graduated from the Flight Safety Academy with his multi-engine pilot’s license, is a technician at the Champlain Dental Laboratory in Burlington, Vt. His mother, Catherine K. Suiter, of Burlington Vt., works at Fletcher Allen, Vermont’s university hospital and medical center. His late father, Ronald D. Suiter, was vice president for development at the University of Vermont.
