SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Mr. and Mrs. William Thompson of Naperville, Ill., announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Laura Elizabeth Thompson, to Mr. Samuel Emlen Judd, son of Mr. H Lee Judd of Southwest Harbor and Mrs. Nina Emlen Horner of Bar Harbor. A spring wedding is planned.

Miss Thompson is a graduate of Bradley University and received a master’s degree in nutrition from Boston University. She is working as a nutritionist at Boston University. Mr. Judd graduated from Bates College and earned a master’s in business administration at the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flager School of Business. He is vice president of investments for Edens and Avant, a commercial real estate development company.
The couple will live in Boston.
