Cary Donaldson and Abeselom Zerit



Cary Donaldson and Abeselom “Ab” Zerit were married Sept. 20, 2008, in Providence, R.I. The bride is the daughter of Cynthia and Gordon Donaldson of Lamoine. The groom is the son of Miriam Zecharias and Habteab Zerit of Augusta, Ga., formerly of Asmara, Eritrea.

The marriage ceremony was held at Save the Bay in Providence with the bride and groom’s friend Marion Meadows officiating, assisted by Cary and Ab’s family. The reception was held at CAV in Providence. A melsi or Eritrean welcoming ceremony was hosted by the groom’s parents Sept. 21 at the Eritrean Community Center, Roxbury, Mass.

The bride is a graduate of Ellsworth High School and Harvard University and earned her MSW from the University of Michigan. She works with young people and their families and communities in Rhode Island as a social worker and educator.

The groom graduated from Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet High School in Nashville, Tenn., and the University of California at Berkeley. He works as a web developer in Boston.

The couple reside in Pawtucket, R.I.
