John and Diane Cyr of Ellsworth are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Danielle Alice Cyr, to Shahrukh Khan, son of Shafi and Kabila Khan of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. This announcement follows their recent notification from United States Citizenship and Immigration Services for approval of Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé (K-1) which took six months to process. Danielle and Shahrukh initially met in Kashmir in May 2016, and the couple were engaged in August 2017.
Danielle graduated from Ellsworth High School, Class of 2011, and completed a BA in International Relations and Global Islamic Studies at Connecticut College, Class of 2015. She later completed her M.Sc. in Human Rights and International Politics at the University of Glasgow in Scotland, UK, Class of 2016. Danielle is currently employed as a program associate for the Gender Equality Initiative and Institute for African Studies at the Elliott School of International Affairs, The George Washington University, in Washington, D.C.
Shahrukh graduated from Burn Hall High School, Class of 2011, and completed a BA in Computer Applications at Indira Gandhi National Open University, Class of 2015. He is currently employed by CSS Corp. as a senior network security engineer and provides global support to Palo Alto Networks.
The couple plan to marry in Maine following the pending approval of Shahrukh’s K-1 Fiancé Visa. Per his request, Shahrukh would like to add that he loves Danielle more than anything. Danielle would like to respond that she loves him more.
