50th Wedding Anniversary

Eugene and Joan (Currie) Demmons of Gouldsboro celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 26. They were honored at a reception given by their children, grandchildren and church family, following a renewal of vows ceremony.

The couple met as children in Dixmont and attended Hampden High School together. They were married on July 1, 1961, at the Methodist Church in Dixmont. They have five children, Laurie and husband, John Dinnell, of Fort Knox, Ky.; Rick and his wife, Amy, of Concord, N.H.; Mark and his wife, Lisa, of Sullivan; Elizabeth and her husband, Kenny Wilkerson, of DeBary, Fla., and Sarah of Henniker, N.H. They have 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. They have influenced and helped raise several other children.

They have been missionaries to Botswana, Africa, and have ministered at several churches. In recent years they spent time in Concord, N.H., at Liberty Assembly of God Church and currently help at The Rock Church of Winter Harbor under Pastor Bruce and Vivian Cummings.

Their friend Linda Jordan helped the long-distance family members coordinate the event.
