Talk scheduled at Blue Hill Library

BLUE HILL — All are welcome to join Raney Bench of the Mount Desert Island Historical Society and Professor Todd Little-Siebold from College of the Atlantic for a discussion about local history and its impacts on the present on Thursday, June 30, at 7 p.m. at the Blue Hill Public Library.

Decisions made in the past affect our lives in profound ways, and the role of teachers and museums is to inspire people to recognize that history is relevant today and into the future. Making history relevant takes creativity and passion, with work that is pushing the boundaries of what people expect from local history. The speakers will share how historic records can help better understand race relations and climate change, and how they are using diverse media to reach new audiences.

This program is being co-sponsored by the library and the Blue Hill Historical Society and is free and open to the public.
