Conductor Lucas Richman and violinist Chloe Trevor will perform, fine wines sampled and an elegant dinner served up on Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Bangor Arts Exchange to toast the Bangor Symphony Orchestra’s 100th anniversary of its incorporation in 1918.

Bangor Wine and Cheese Co. will kick off the celebration at 6 p.m. with a tasting of fine and collectible wines with harp accompaniment by Mo Nichols. Hampden caterer Basil Creek will serve the dinner followed by Maine state officials’ special presentation to mark the milestone. As a finale, Richman and Trevor will perform. Going whole hog

Freshly roasted pork, organic carrots, warm red cabbage, coleslaw, potatoes, wood-fired sourdough bread, homemade pickles and pies are on the menu of the Halcyon Grange No. 345’s combined pig roast and live auction starting at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. Bangor uncorked

Wines from Italy, France, Australia, Spain, Portugal, Germany, South America, and the United States will be available for sampling at the 2018 Bangor Uncorked social from 5 to 8 p.m. (VIP starts at 4 p.m.) on Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Cross Insurance Center.

Pre-paid general admission costs $35 and includes a souvenir wine glass and three hours of sampling with live music. Pre-paid VIP admission costs $55 per person and entitles the ticket-holder to a souvenir glass, four hours of sampling and light refreshments. The rates increase $10 for all tickets paid at the door. Ahead of the 2018 midterm elections, Strong Brewing Co. will hold its “Ranked Choice Beer Election” starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at its taproom and brewery at 7 Rope Ferry Road in Sedgwick. Patrons can order a sampler and use the ranked choice method to rate their favorites.
