Nibbles: Valentine treats, homemade doughnuts and a new supper club February 8, 2018 on Food, Lifestyle Have a sip Rooster Brother invites shoppers to enjoy a taste of Mionetto Sparkling Rosé from Italy and a new Casa L’Angel Cabernet Sauvignon from Spain from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9, in the deli section of the store located at 29 Main St. in Ellsworth. Samples of other Valentine’s Day treats also will be served. The Mionetto rosé is produced in Italy’s Veneto region, where Francesco Mionetto founded the winery in 1887 in the village of Valdobbiadene. The Casa L’Angel cab comes from Spain’s Valencia region and the Finca El Poblet vineyards in Fontanars dels Alforins. For more info, call 667-8675. Breakfast like a king Homemade doughnuts and other baked goods, pastries, hot cereal, juice and locally roasted roasted coffee are on the menu of the Halcyon Grange No. 345’s “Pop-up Breakfast Café from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays through Fridays through February. The cost is a suggested $7 donation. The café’s organizers say the pop-up breakfast is an opportunity for folks to get out, beat cabin fever and connect with the community. The Grange is located at 1157 Pleasant St. in Blue Hill. Sunday night supper Ellsworth’s 86 This! is livening things up this winter. Like a live-music session, the Main Street restaurant will hold its own dining variation at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 25. Calling it a “Supper Session,” 86 This! owners Jeff and Diane Kelly-Lokocz are taking reservations for a prix-fix, four-course dinner. The menu’s centerpiece is five-spiced short rib served with flint polenta with chevre as well as root veggies roasted with butternut seed oil. A vegetarian option is available by pre-order only. A salad, soup and homemade sourdough bread are included in the meal as well as different wines accompanying three courses. Parsnip cake with peppercorn, ricotta and pear will cap the meal.
