Soup for the Soul luncheons are being held on Fridays through March 27 at the United Baptist Church of Ellsworth. The next one is scheduled for Feb. 7. The luncheons — open to all — run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The church is located at the corner of Hancock and Pine streets. Use the door off the lower parking lot on Spruce Street, across from Charlie’s Pizza. Luncheons will be canceled if schools are closed due to weather.

Have a budding baker at home? The Jesup Memorial Library will host a Kids’ Bread Bake-off on Friday, Feb. 14. There will be three categories: yeast bread, gluten-free and a shaped or formed bread (such as a teddy bear, swan or whatever the entrant can dream up).
Bakers should deliver their breads to the library by 2:30 p.m. Feb. 14 and may enter as many categories as they like. Bread will be judged on outer appearance, texture and taste. There will be one winner in each category. Sign-up is required by Tuesday, Feb. 11. Call 288-4245 or stop by the library.
