Baking bliss

For home cooks who love to bake, brown butter frosted pumpkin cake, chocolate eclairs and cream puffs, Viennese whirls and leek and pancetta galette sound challenging, but delectable. Offered through Ellsworth Adult Education, the class costs $34 per person. To sign up, call 664-7110 or email [email protected]

Shrimp three ways

Baby Bay Shrimp and Orzo, Spicy Shrimp Tacos and Shrimp De Jonghe Ways are on the menu of Barbara Linton’s cooking class from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, at the Sullivan Learning Center on Route 1 in East Sullivan. Offered through RSU 24 Adult Education, the class costs $35 per person. To sign up, call 422-4794, email [email protected] or visit rsu24.maineadulted.org.

Plant-based cuisine

Ellsworth resident and councilor Marc Blanchette continues to share his culinary knowledge about plant-based cooking through a series of classes running Wednesdays, March 25-April 15, in Ellsworth. Nearly seven years ago, Blanchette changed his diet to fruit, grains, beans, legumes and vegetables and lost a total of 184 pounds. He also made exercise an integral part of his life.

In the classes, offered through Ellsworth Adult Education, Blanchette will show how simple and affordable a plant-based diet is. He will do cooking demos, prepare food to sample, provide easy recipes, shopping tips and group support. The cost is $40 per person. To sign up, call 664-7110 or email [email protected]
