Usher in spring and snap up fresh greens and other locally produced food and other products at the Ellsworth Farmers Market from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdays at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Ellsworth located at 121 Bucksport Road. The market resumed operating on March 24.


Smelts so good!

The smelts will be running soon in time for the Downeast Salmon Federation’s 18th Annual Smelt Fry & World Fish Migration Day Celebration from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, at the federation headquarters at 187 Main St. in Columbia Falls.

Mackerel will be smoked in a smoker on site and various displays will be on view.

Grow your own!

For free, learn how to enrich soil, make compost, rotate crops, use green manures, control weeds and pests without chemicals and other tenets of organic gardening from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, at the Blue Hill Public Library.
