Savory secession

At noon on March 15, the Sullivan-Sorrento Historical Society will serve up a colonial-style dinner to mark Maine’s secession from Massachusetts and its official statehood in 1820 at the Sorrento-Sullivan Recreation Center on Route 1. During the dinner, townspeople will re-enact the 1819 town meeting where the final vote to separate took place. Diners will act as the voters, signaling yea or nay, as part of the event.
