Nibbles: Dig into an Irish supper



As Irish as spaghetti

Dig into homemade corned beef and cabbage and all the trimmings from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, at the Town Hill Fire Station and Community Center at 1328 Route 102 in the Bar Harbor village of Town Hill. The St. Patrick’s Day supper costs $15 per person and $25 for a family of three or more. Proceeds will benefit a local family with medical-related financial needs. Savory secession

At noon on March 15, the Sullivan-Sorrento Historical Society will serve up a colonial-style dinner to mark Maine’s secession from Massachusetts and its official statehood in 1820 at the Sorrento-Sullivan Recreation Center on Route 1. During the dinner, townspeople will re-enact the 1819 town meeting where the final vote to separate took place. Diners will act as the voters, signaling yea or nay, as part of the event. Milbridge’s popular Vazquez Mexican Takeout is hosting a benefit supper to raise funds for local resident Clarisa Lara, who suffered several injuries in a recent accident, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, at MIlbridge Elementary School. Lara is out of work indefinitely and facing a lengthy recovery.

The supper’s menu will include flautas, empanadas, enchiladas, rice and beans, salad and dessert. Admission is by donation. The school is located at 39 Washington St. in Milbridge.
