Farm-to-table cooking

Chef Frank Giglio, whose cooking career took him across the country to learn how to cook elk, king crab and other wild game and seafood, will teach a workshop on how to cook in tune with the harvest of summer produce starting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, at the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association’s Education Center in Unity. Smoked brisket, barbecued pulled pork, baked beans and more are on the menu of the North Bucksport United Methodist Church’s public barbecue at 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, in the Arey Community Building. The cost is $10 per person and $20 per family.

 

Start the day right

The Cherryfield Congregational Church, known for its fine home-cooking by bean supper-goers, is serving a public breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at the church. The cost is $5 per person. The meal is part of the Cherryfield Days celebration.

 

Go whole hog

A roast pork dinner with fixings will be served from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at the First Congregational Church of Ellsworth. The cost is $9 per person, $25 per family. Children under 5 eat for free. For more info, contact Lois at 669-2028.
