New Restaurant Opens April 10 in Ellsworth

ELLSWORTH — The Hillfire Grill, a new lunch and dinner restaurant, will open Friday, April 10, at 337 High St., site of the former Hilltop Restaurant, most recently Kona’s.

Five partners have joined forces and fortunes to create a new, family-friendly restaurant offering steaks, pasta, seafood and thin crust pizza from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. daily.

The brew pub within comes courtesy of the Atlantic Brewing Co. of Bar Harbor.

The five partners: Evan Stewart of Bar Harbor, head chef at Bassa Cocina de Tapeo in Northeast Harbor, is general manager of the kitchen. Blue Hill native Jenna Horton, manager of Bassa Cocina de Tapeo, brings her managerial skills to Hillfire. Jean-Paul (JP) Taillon, co-owner of Bassa Cocina de Tapeo and The Spot Grill in Bar Harbor, will oversee all aspects of the restaurant to ensure the quality of food preparation, presentation and service. Kim P. Horton, after relocating to Northeast Harbor in 2006, designed, renovated and opened Bassa Cocina de Tapeo and The Spot Grill with co-owner and partner Taillon. Erin Uliano is a Bar Harbor businesswoman involved in philanthropic work.
