ELLSWORTH — A recent addition to the Ellsworth restaurant scene is all Italian and all homemade.

Tony and Gabriela Magee opened Amici’s Restaurant on Franklin Street this summer.
Tony Magee said the idea was born after the couple went to a party and had some Italian food.
“I said, ‘I think we can do better than that,’” Magee recalled.
Gabriela, whose father grew up in Ofena, Italy, does much of the cooking and makes the pasta fresh daily.
Gabriela says that she has been making pasta since she was about 3.
“I still remember both of my grandmothers cutting their pasta by hand,” she said. “Rolling out the dough with a rolling pin.”
