Glorious garlic



Chef and garlic guru Frank Pendola will stage the 15th Annual MDI Garlic Festival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, at Smuggler’s Den Campground in Southwest Harbor. This year’s extravaganza benefits KidsPeace’s New England Autism Spectrum Disorders Program.

Nostrano, Chippers, 86 This!, Cleonice Mediterranean Bistro, Flour Shop Bakery and Two Sisters Lemonade will serve up food and drink.

The festival also will feature an extensive farmers market ranging from Four Season Farm to Horsepower Farm. The Chris Humphrey Big Band will perform.

Classic big band jazz, featuring tunes from Duke Ellington, Woody Herman, Stan Kenton, Buddy Rich and Frank Sinatra. Admission is a $5 donation to KidsPeace. For more details, visit www.nostrano.com.
