BREWER — The Bangor Symphony Youth Orchestra’s fall concert will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17, at the Brewer Performing Arts Center.
Led by conductors Sascha Zaburdaeva and Rebecca Mallory, the concert will feature the Prelude String Orchestra, the Prelude Wind Ensemble and the Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Nov. 17 concert’s program will include a range of works and highlight two Bangor Symphony Orchestra musicians.
Laura Gallucci, playing viola, will perform the sizzling “Danza Latina” by Brian Balmages with the Prelude String Orchestra and Scott Burditt, horn, will perform Paul Dukas’s demanding “Villanelle”with the Philharmonic Orchestra.
Through a continuing partnership with the BSYO season sponsor Dead River Co. and the Good Shepherd Food Bank, the concert also will serve as a food drive, dubbed “A Symphony of Cereal.”
Audience members are asked to bring donations of cereal to the event for the Good Shepherd Food Bank, which serves more than 100 local agencies in Penobscot County. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. Admission is a suggested donation of $5 per person. A reception will follow in the cafeteria.
