UPDATE: Acadia Night Sky Festival Keeps Eyes on the Skies

BAR HARBOR — This weekend’s less than stellar weather forecast has the organizers of the 3rd Annual Acadia Night Sky Festival keeping their eyes on the heavens.

The four days of events being staged to celebrate Downeast Maine’s starlit nights include a mix of both indoor and outdoor events that get under way today. Rain or overcast skies may force cancellation of outdoor star-gazing parties within Acadia National Park, while other outdoor events may be relocated. The mix of 28 art, music, science and poetry events planned for the Festival includes 15 indoor events that won’t be affected by the weather.

Those planning to attend should check the Festival’s website — which is AcadiaNightSkyFestival.com – or call the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce at 288-5103 to determine which events have been canceled and which have been moved.

The 3rd Annual Acadia Night Sky Festival is a community celebration to promote the protection and enjoyment of Downeast Maine’s stellar night sky as a valuable natural resource through education, science and the arts.  It is scheduled to take place from Thursday, September 22 through sunrise on Monday, September 26, 2011.
