Time to Roll The Dice

High rollers, card sharks, and all those who are ready to take a gamble will fill the Bar Harbor Club next Saturday, Nov. 7, for the Mount Desert Island YMCA’s 2009 Las Vegas Night.

Blackjack, Texas hold ’em and vertical wheels of chance are just a few of the flashy games on tap for this exciting event.

Hundreds of people are expected to turn out for the annual fund-raiser, which generates money for the Y’s scholarship and childcare programs. Guests will have the chance to enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres and desserts by Kathleen Mulligan, drink selections from a cash bar, and participate in raffles, gambling and a freewheeling auction at the end of the night.

At $35, advance tickets come with $10,000 in gambling “cash,” which lucky players can parlay into ever higher amounts, redeemable for prizes and auction items. And for those who favor dressing to the nines, a costume contest offers the chance for even more prizes.
