ELLSWORTH — You may not be able to go to The Grand, but The Grand can come to you.
Lamoine writer/director Brent Hutchins will present “Six FEET of Separation” online at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, via the theater’s Facebook page.
The play also will be available for streaming on YouTube. Access is free, but donations are welcome. All proceeds will go toward upgrades and improvements for the theater’s safe and sanitary reopening.
Hutchins is bringing “Jun-yah” and friends back to the stage for his viral, virtual Downeast perspective. He will be joined by actors from the Trenton Flats Irregulars and Lamoine Community Arts. The cast members will perform 6 feet apart with masks firmly in place.
The audience might recognize the (masked) cast and characters from previous original shows by Hutchins’ “Closer to Home” and “Closer to Home, Too!” He also directed the last live Grand show, “You Can’t Take It With You.”
In addition, The Grand is offering other virtual programming such as its Family Film Festival that encourages families to make mini-films with a different challenge every week. Past challenges included the theme “Space: The Final Frontier” and the line “Back to the old drawing board.” The biweekly film challenges continue through August along with Tuesday Night Trivia, where players can win prizes like gift certificates to Morton’s Moo and Union River Lobster Pot. Upcoming topics include “Star Wars vs. Star Trek “and “Classic Rock.”
