Stookey to Perform in Blue Hill July 30

BLUE HILL — Noel Paul Stookey will perform a solo concert at Blue Hill Congregational Church on Saturday, July 30, at 7:30 p.m. The rest of the world knows him as Paul, from the days when he was part of the Peter, Paul and Mary trio; however, to his friends and neighbors here on the Blue Hill Peninsula, he will always be known as Noel.

Apart from being a performer, Noel has never wavered in his belief that music can be a healing force for change. To that end, he created the Public Domain Foundation with the proceeds from “The Wedding Song,” arguably his best-loved composition. For over 40 years, all of the proceeds from that song have supported the foundation, which promotes the use of music as a tool to generate awareness of issues, support nonprofit organizations and build community through shared values and global understanding.

Expect to hear some new and moving pieces from Noel at this concert, which will benefit the Tree of Life food pantry, as well as many community programs sponsored by Blue Hill Congregational Church.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and there are no reserved seats. Admission is $15 at the door. Students are free and child care will be provided at no cost.
