Dominique Labelle is featured in the next Mount Desert Festival of Chamber Music concert.

MOUNT DESERT — Soprano Dominique Labelle will join forces with violinist Stephanie Chase, violists Daniel Panner and Dov Scheindlin, cellist Mark Shuman, and double bass player David Grossman this Tuesday, Aug. 2, at the Neighborhood House in Northeast Harbor for the next concert for the Mount Desert Festival of Chamber Music at the Neighborhood House in Northeast Harbor.

Music director Todd Crow will play piano for the concert, which will include the music of Debussy, Shostakovich, and Mendelssohn.

“This one is more wide open as to performers and unusual combos,” said Natalie Raimondi, executive director of the festival.

She said that Ms. Labelle, who made such “a stunning debut last year singing Handel arias, will dominate the first half  singing songs of Debussy and Shostakovich, with the second half being the Piano Sextet of  Mendelssohn.”

Ms. Labelle was born in Montreal and has a repertoire that ranges from the Baroque music of Bach and Handel, French and Italian opera and Gustav Mahler, to 2006 Pulitzer Prize-winner Yehudi Wyner. She has performed throughout Europe and the United States.

Ms. Chase made her Carnegie Hall debut at age 18, was a top prize-winner at the international Tchaikovsky competition in Moscow and is a recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant.  Mr. Daniel Panner is principal violist of the New York City Opera and Mr. Scheindlin has been violist of the Arditti String Quartet and has appeared as soloist with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam.  Mr. Shuman has performed at the festival since 1977.
