Pittsfield writer wins playwrights’ award

Pittsfield writer has won the Meetinghouse Theatre Lab’s annual Maine Playwrights’ Award. Her play “Crash” will be performed on Jan. 19 at Hammond Hall in Winter Harbor.

WINTER HARBOR — Meetinghouse Theatre Lab has awarded its Maine Playwrights’ Award to Pittsfield writer Kristin Leonard, whose play “Crash” will be performed in a staged reading at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, at Hammond Hall.

A former dancer and actress, who studied at New York’s The Juilliard School, Leonard holds a master’s degree in English from Northern Arizona University and a master’s in creative writing from the University of Southern Maine. Her work has appeared in The Explicator, The Atlantic Online and other journals. She lives in Pittsfield with her youngest daughter, two Chihuahuas and a border collie named Wally.
