SEDGWICK — Renowned pianist and Grammy Award nominee Masanobu Ikemiya of Bar Harbor will present a concert titled “Classics to Ragtime” on Sunday, Nov. 25, at 3 p.m. at the North Sedgwick Baptist Church.
In 1980, Ikemiya founded the Arcady Music Festival. He was the festival’s artistic director for 24 years and he has been seen and heard on PBS, National Public Radio and locally on WERU-FM.
Ikemiya developed an interest in American ragtime music while volunteering at a homeless shelter started by Mother Teresa in Harlem, New York City. He has made 10 CDs including the bestselling album “Rhapsody in Blue” with the New York Ragtime Orchestra, of which he was the conductor.
There is no admission charge for the concert, which is part of the North Sedgwick church’s 175th anniversary celebration. Free will donations may be made at the door for any who would like to support the church and its ministries.
